Day 270 - Happy Birthday Grandad

Tonight we went out to dinner to celebrate Dave's birthday. Ava and Isabel were very happy to pose with their Grandad. We went to dinner at Walshes, where the kids ate free - what a score, and enjoyed a delicious flourless chocolate orange cake.

Day 222 - Double Digits!

Today is Austin's 10th birthday - fittingly we went to celebrate with dinner and cake to sing happy birthday to him. I am pretty sure I can remember the day Austin was born - what a gorgeous boy who started life with a little fun and continues to bring laughter to us all.

Day 210 - Happy Birthday Aila!

Today we ventured out to Lollipop's to celebrate Aila's 3rd birthday. The girls were very excited to celebrate with their friend - whom they just adore. It was a milestone event, as Olivia got her face painted for the first time - finally! Ava (pictured here) is an old hand and loves a bit of paint on her face... she does make a beautiful butterfly.

Day 208 - Double Happy Birthday

Tonight we got together to wish Samuel and Isabel a very happy birthday. We  enjoyed a delicious dinner followed of course by cake. We hope you both had a wonderful birthday.

Day 161 - A double

Tonight we celebrated a double 30th birthday or is that a 60th birthday. Jodi and Brett had a joint 30th birthday party and we were lucky enough to get to celebrate with them. It was a lovely night, obviously a little tiring for Brett who could hardly keep his eyes open for a photo!

Happy birthday Stubbs! Hope you both had a memorable evening... or unmemorable if it was a really good one!

Day 146 - Unusual

Unusual. There really isn't anything unusual about today for me.

We celebrated Olivia and Ava's 3rd birthday today with lots of fun. A morning consisting of opening presents and some cake decorating and the evening spending time and having dinner with family to celebrate another year's passing.

I am continually amazed at watching my babies grow up into little ladies.... well ladies most of the time! Happy Birthday Olivia and Ava!

Unusual is doubling up the photos for today.

Day 121 - Cake is Important

Tonight we went to Morgana's place for cake and nibbles to celebrate her special birthday, which was actually today. On the way over to Morgana's house tonight, Olivia asked if she could sleep at Aunty 'Gana's house. I was pretty impressed that she wanted to sleep over - I think she has caught the sleeping over bug!

Day 119 - Birthday Fairies

Today we were invited to Kaleigh and Brydie's 4th birthday 'Fairy Party'. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the girls were very excited to go to the park to celebrate their friend's birthday. They got to dress up as fairy's, decorate wings, play some really fun fairy games and of course delicious cake. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Day 118 - A Perfect Reason to Celebrate

Tonight we went out to celebrate Morgana's birthday. It was a perfect reason to send the girls to Jenny's for their first ever sleep over, and of course they loved it. I loved it too. A night out with friends which included dinner, drinks and dancing was just what I needed.

Day 111 - Happy Birthday Andrew

Today we celebrated Andrew's birthday with dinner and a very cool cake at our place tonight. With a really busy morning - a quick cake turned into a fun lolly filled cake much to Andrew's delight! I was really grateful that Jenny and Sam took the left over cake home - it was very rich and really hard to cut!

Day 108 - My Birthday Portrait

Today it is my birthday. I met Belinda at Art Oven bakery in Manuka for a coffee and some delicious morning tea. Following this we went across to the National Portrait Gallery. We had a wander around the galleries and were very happy to see the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 on display (for more information click here) With Belinda and I both interested in photography, we were very keen to wander through. There were some beautiful images on display. I had a few favourite pieces: Mum by Christopher Pearce, No Junk Mail by Juli Balla  and The 70 Year Old Jetty Jumper by Alex Frayne. My favourite was Millie by Louise Whelan.


Outside the exhibit the National Portrait Gallery have set up a corner for people to take their own portraits, with backdrops and props as well. Above is my portrait of Belinda, with a little editing done in Photoshop (no airbrushing!) I am very happy with the result. If you would like to see Belinda's portrait of me, click here)

The afternoon was spent making ganache for the cake to share with my lovely sister in law Meagan whose birthday is also today. Happy birthday Meagan!

Day 77 - Happy Birthday Monique!

Today we celebrated Monique's 30th birthday at our place with a family gathering. It was a lovely day which we all got to enjoy in our backyard with a barbecue. We played with Leila and watched her sleep, sorry Monique, but I think that was both Olivia and Ava's favourite part!

Day 71 - Happy Birthday Madison

Today we celebrated Madison's 5th birthday. We gathered at Jenny's place for finger food, a sausage sizzle dinner and some delicious cake! It was my first ever Dolly Varden cake and I think I did a pretty good job! As soon as the girls saw it, their eyes lit up - I guess I will be making 2 of these in May! It seems we all had a wonderful time - we were all exhausted by the time we came home.

Day 29 - Happy Birthday Luke

Today we went and celebrated Luke's 16th birthday at the park. It was a lovely afternoon watching the kids play and eat while the adults chatted and had a catch up. Watching Olivia and Ava eat ice cream cake was enough of a treat for me for the evening. Olivia ended up with a rainbow coloured shirt by the end of the afternoon.
